A magnetic board paired with a Trip Map travel map creates exactly that—a personal travel gallery where every magnet and pin tells your unique story. This combination isn’t just sentimental; it’s also a distinctive home décor element that sparks conversations.

Why Travel Maps and Magnetic Boards Work So Well Together

When you combine these two elements, the result is both practical and inspiring.

  • The map and board share the same colors and textures, creating a harmonious display.
  • Everything stays in one place—you’ll mark visited locations directly on the map while showcasing your travel magnets alongside.
  • The detailed map, featuring thousands of cities, inspires future trip planning.
  • Meanwhile, your magnets are no longer limited to the refrigerator—they become part of your wall décor.
  • With various sizes and colors available, you can easily match your home’s style.
  • Most importantly, this pairing creates a meaningful, personal décor piece instead of just another random artwork on your wall.

What Does This Combination Look Like?

The centerpiece is your detailed travel map, with magnetic boards displayed beside it. Each board is designed in coordinating colors to complement the map beautifully.

You can place the boards on the sides, above, or below the map. Once one board is full, simply add another to expand your gallery.

The goal? To let your travel souvenirs enrich your home with style and personality.

Choosing the Right Map and Board Colors

In the Trip Map online store, map names correspond directly to magnetic board names. For example, the “Colorful” map pairs with the “Colorful” board.

Here’s how to find the perfect match:

  1. Browse the website and select your preferred map design. Note its name carefully.
  2. If you already own a map, check its name in the online store.
  3. Go to Map Accessories > Magnetic Boards and Pinboards. Look for a board with the same name as your map. The product photo will also show the board alongside the matching map, so you can confirm the pairing visually.

Selecting the Right Magnetic Board Size

Magnetic boards are designed to complement map dimensions, creating a balanced and harmonious look.

Here’s how to select the right size:

  1. Choose your map size (or measure your existing one).
  2. On the board’s product page, open the visual guide in the photo gallery showing size combinations.
  3. Select the appropriate chart based on whether your map is horizontal, vertical, or square. Find your map’s measurements, and you’ll see the recommended board sizes and hanging orientation listed next to them.

For example, if your map measures 100×70 cm, a 100×20 cm board fits perfectly below it, while 70×40 cm boards are ideal for the sides.

Where and How to Hang Your Maps and Boards

Canvas and wood products require stable indoor conditions:

👍 They work best in rooms without high humidity or extreme temperature changes. Ideally, avoid placing them in direct sunlight.

👎 Do not display them outdoors, in humid areas, unheated spaces, or basements.

Both maps and boards come ready to hang, with sawtooth hooks already attached to the back—you just need to prepare the wall anchors.

Because magnetic boards are heavy and rigid, we don’t recommend adhesive hooks. If they detach, the board could fall, causing damage or injury. The most reliable solution is to screw anchors into the wall, ensuring everything stays secure.

While travel magnets are the most popular choice, you can also showcase other keepsakes with magnets, such as:

  • Postcards collected from around the world
  • Vision board cut-outs for future journeys
  • Tickets for upcoming trips

Which Magnets Work Best with the Board?

Yes—magnets do hold through the canvas layer. However, because the canvas adds a thin barrier, very weak or demagnetized magnets might not stick.

When shopping abroad, choose strong, thicker magnets that hold firmly on vendor displays. If a magnet comes off too easily, it’s probably too weak. Avoid large or heavy magnets with tiny backing magnets, as they may not hold well.

If you have older magnets that no longer stick, simply remove the old backing and glue on a new, stronger one.

How to Care for Your Magnetic Board and Pin Map

Both maps and boards are covered with a protective canvas coating. To clean, dust with a soft, dry cloth. For more stubborn dirt, wipe gently with a damp cloth.
