It’s a very strange map, all out of proportion and skewed. Looks like Australia has slipped and crashed into Asia, Japan looks odd, just quite disappointing for the money spent.
Thank you for your feedback. We use the Miller Cylindrical Projection for our maps, which is the exact design shown in our product photos to ensure customers know what to expect. Because it is mathematically impossible to represent a spherical Earth on a flat surface without some distortion, every map projection involves trade-offs in proportions or shapes.
We chose this specific projection for its aesthetic balance, and we’re sorry to hear it wasn’t what you expected.
The Vintage Push Pin World Map Canvas is a great item to document your travels and makes a great and thoughtful gift for friends and family who like to travel. The map itself is beautiful and well made. Trip Maps customer service was outstanding and they answered all of my questions thoroughly and in a timely manner. Shipment was fast and well communicated. This map truly exceeded my expectations. It is solid and sturdy with a proper wood frame that is very stable. And the map itself is not some kind of flimsy material you might see at school. It’s a high quality and stretched sort of almost canvas material. It looks slim and like it can’t possibly hand push pins without breaking through to the other side, but they don’t! It’s incredible. The print and map design itself are also clear and sharp. The team was also super quick and accomadating with how we wanted the little customized banner to be laid out. They designed it exactly as we wanted it. My family and I love this map. Thank you!! 🙏

To clarify, the map is printed on a high-quality cotton blend canvas, which is coated with a UV-protective varnish. This may give it an appearance that is “almost like canvas,” but it is indeed canvas. 😊
I am blown away at how incredibly well made and detailed the map is. I bouught one for my partner and as I saw it, i immediately placed an order for myself. The quality of the map is truly incredible, the delivery is so efficient and overall, i only have praise. I did have to pay additional duties and taxes on importing it into South Africa, but I was warned about this. Its a no brainer – order yours now!!!
